Poetry Comparison – Love and Relationship

1.) Father is ploughing in a field/farm

2.) He’s son is weak and follows his father round, stumbling and falling over.

3.) He dreams of being able plough and becoming strong like his father.

4.) He grows up and becomes strong enough to plough. Whereas his father has grown old and has become weak.

This poem shows how the father was strong, then he becomes weak. This is because of age, and growing old.

Analysing Language in text messages By Rian Hussain

Is modern Technology  destroying the English language?

We began by looking at two text message conversations. Our focus was to compare how text messages vary in our social media message conversations either when using  Facebook, Instagram or texts. I will be analyzing how the use of slang (shortening of words or language used between friends) has developed and how emojis have become so popular that people use them instead of writing.

When face to face with friends and family, the language we use is very modern. This means that our language has changed from the times of William Shakespeare and we now speak differently, shortening words for different reasons such as difficulty, laziness, and coolness. However this is even more clear when we text, using our phones we use slang even more! We shorten words more often than we would do when speaking, and lot of the time replace words with emojis. Between how we speak to family and friends i think that using modern technology is good because it makers it easier to talk to them. Although using this language when texting can effect the English language because people will may not be able to spell words correctly.

When i look through my messages it is clear that modern technology is trying to help the English language. The reason for this is because it makes it easier to talk to people, for example emojis make it easier to say something without having to spell it, and autocorrect helps with difficult spellings. I think that modern technology could improve the english language even more if it was able to autocorrect punctuation, this is because many people like myself struggle to use punctuation correctly. Modern technology not only helps people who struggle with the english language but also helps develop the language by creating new words. This shows us that technology is actually improving the English language and not destroying it!

This is Your Online Domain

Hello and welcome to your personal online journal.

Edutronic has been created to enhance and enrich your learning at the London Nautical School. Its purpose is to provide you with an audience for your work (or work-in-progress) and you have the choice (by altering the ‘visibility’ of your posts) of whether your work on here is visible to the world, or only to your teacher.

Anything you post here in the public domain represents you and thus it’s important that you take care with that decision, but don’t be afraid to publish your work – as the feedback you may get from people at home, your peers and people from around the internet is only likely to enhance it.

Remember you can always access your class blog and all manner of resources through the Edutronic main website – and by all means check out the sites of your peers to see what they’re getting up to as well.

If you have any questions for your teacher, an excellent way to get an answer is to create a new private post on this journal. Your teachers are am notified of any new posts and will reply swiftly to any queries.

Make the most of, and enjoy this new freedom in your English learning!
